Manufacturers, importers and handlers are required to provide the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a comprehensive inventory of chemicals manufactured domestically or imported to the United States. The information provided to the EPA will help assess the potential human health and environmental effects of the chemicals. Failure to comply with the requirements, late reporting or reporting a slightly inaccurate manufacture or import volume will result to monetary penalties up to $25,000 per chemical per site.
