Fix Auto Cathedral City and Allstate Team Up to Donate a Refurbished Vehicle to a Local Single Mom
San Diego, CA, October 24, 2016 --(PR.com)-- On November 9, Fix Auto Cathedral City, owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Henry and Gloria Arroyo, will host a ceremony with Allstate® Insurance Company to present a refurbished 2007 Chrysler Town & Country to Jennifer Rodriguez, a single mother who is determined to make a better life for herself and her four children despite facing considerable adversity.
The vehicle gifting is being facilitated through the National Auto Body Council’s (NABC) Recycled Rides® initiative, a community awareness project that provides vehicles to those in need.
Jennifer’s family and their need for transportation came to the attention of Recycled Rides through Martha’s Kitchen and Village (MKV), a local Coachella Valley charity that provides comprehensive services to those in need. Recently homeless, the family was referred to MKV and enrolled in the organization’s transitional housing program. After Jennifer spent seven months of diligent effort to get her life back on track, which included seeking and finding permanent employment, it became apparent to MKV staff that a reliable vehicle would play a key role in facilitating the Rodriguez family’s transition to self-sufficiency.
That’s when the local inter-industry team coordinated through Recycled Rides stepped up to the plate. Allstate donated the vehicle, which was then turned over to Fix Auto Cathedral City which performed the necessary repairs free of charge. A number of local vendors contributed the replacement parts needed to finish the job—making it a true community effort.
“Dependable transportation is something many of us take for granted, but it can be more difficult to secure than you might guess,” said Fix Auto Cathedral City Owner-Operator Henry Arroyo. “We are proud to partner with Allstate to offer our resources to transform lives and touch families across the country. While the gift of a vehicle provides a practical means of transportation, what it really provides is hope for Jennifer and her family.”
Jennifer, who is saving money toward the goal of finding a permanent home for her family, understands the opportunity the van represents. “This vehicle will make it easier for me to get to work and my children to get to school,” she said. “My heartfelt thanks go out to Fix Auto Cathedral City and Allstate. This car is changing our lives for the better!”
The presentation will take place November 9 at 10:30 a.m. on the premises of Martha’s Village and Kitchen at 83791 Date Avenue, Indio, CA 92201. For more information, contact Jonathan Herrera at 714.322.8604 or jherrera@fixauto.com.
