New Children's Book Sparks Curiosity and Encourages Interest in STEAM Subjects
"Ms. Pearl Makes a Discovery" is a new children’s book designed to encourage curiosity and get children excited about learning! Readers will witness the adventures of Ms. Pearl and her animal friends, who all have a special interest in either science, technology, engineering, arts or math. Together, they explore the fascinating world of STEAM while inspiring the reader to recreate some of the amazing experiments performed in the book.
Shreveport, LA, October 24, 2016 --(PR.com)-- "Ms. Pearl Makes a Discovery" is a new children’s book designed to encourage curiosity and get children excited about learning STEAM or science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. The story takes place at a nature park, where a female scientist named Ms. Pearl performs a variety of experiments in her laboratory with help from her animal friends - Sean the Squirrel, Teddy the Turtle, Elle the Elephant, Alex the Alligator, and Max the Monkey. Each character has a special talent while together exploring the fascinating world of STEAM. Readers will witness the shenanigans of Ms. Pearl and her animal friends, and be inspired to reproduce the kid-friendly experiments presented in the book. Ms. Pearl’s character is loosely based on the Author, Christina Washington, who also happens to be a Scientist. Mrs. Washington created Ms. Pearl and the STEAM characters to reflect her love for STEAM.
About The Author
Mrs. Washington entered her first science fair in the 2nd grade, embarking on a lifelong journey as a Scientist.
Mrs. Washington has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s degree in Physics. She has a variety of career experiences as an Engineer, Physicist, science educator, and with curriculum development. She has also received numerous awards including Top 40 under 40 Professional honoree, US Army Material Command Award for Research, Clark Atlanta University Outstanding Service Award, and is a featured Physicist on the American Physical Society’s website. She also founded Young Scholars to promote academic achievement in STEAM while increasing awareness of STEAM careers. Mrs. Washington is pleased to offer “Ms. Pearl makes a Discovery” and looks forward to enriching the community with quality educational content.
