Chicago Miniature Figure Show a Success... World Masters Donate Works to Auction to Support Next Year's Triennial World Model Expo in 2017
The 42nd Annual Show by the Military Miniature Society of Illinois was a huge success with over 400 attendees and 170 exhibitors with world master artists donating their works to support the triennial "World Model Expo" planned for July 2017 in Chicago; the first time this event will be back in the USA since 2005.
Chicago, IL, October 27, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Over the same historic weekend the Chicago Cubs clinched a spot in the World Series, over 400 enthusiasts of all ages enjoyed seeing the artistry of over 170 vendors who displayed their work at the 42nd Annual Chicago Show, hosted by the Military Miniature Society of Illinois.
The event was held at the Marriott in Schaumburg, IL (near Chicago's famous Woodfield Shopping Mall) over three days and included exhibits, seminars, auctions, vendor booths and social events. Prizes were awarded for artists from beginner to master for works ranging from military figures, fantasy subjects and dioramas featuring a wide variety of eras and subject matter.
One of the highlights of the event was the auction of a series of miniature figures donated by some of the hobby's most world renowned artists to with the proceeds to help underwrite the World Expo in July 2017. These included: Marion & Alan Ball, Mike Blank, Maurico Bruno & Danilo Cartacci, Julio Cabos, Doug Cohen, Greg DiFranco, Pepe Gallardo, Philippe Gengembre, Anders Heintz & Dennis Levy, Bill Horan, Stephen Malia, Mariano Numitoni, Diego Ruina, John Rosengrant, Jason Whitman and David Zabrocki...raising over $15,000 for next year's World Model Expo operating expenses.
The World Model Expo 2017 will be held at the Chicago Hilton Hotel at 720 South Michigan Avenue from July 7-9, 2017 as it welcomes miniature figure artists from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Europe, South & Central America, Asia Australia and beyond.
