19 Years Together – FirstGlance and Philadelphia Bringing Indie and Local Films to the Big Screen
FirstGlance Film Festival, Philadelphia’s Independent Film Festival since 1996, brings a weekend of premieres, original and local indie films from the Philadelphia area and around the world to Painted Bride Art Center, 230 Vine St, Philadelphia, PA 19106, November 11 -13, 2016, to vie for the title, “Best of the Fest.” The 19th annual festival includes unique screening programs, networking with filmmakers, beer and wine bar, food trucks, cast and crew, after-parties, and filmmaker interviews.
Philadelphia, PA, October 27, 2016 --(PR.com)-- FirstGlance Film Festival, Philadelphia’s Independent Film Festival since 1996, brings a weekend of premieres, original and local indie films from the Philadelphia area and around the world together to vie for the title, “Best of the Fest.” The 19th annual festival includes unique screening programs, networking with filmmakers, beer and wine bar, food trucks, cast and crew, after-parties, live filmmaker interviews on the red carpet with Ivonna Cadavar from YouToo America TV, and a filmmaker brunch.
Competing in this year’s festival are veteran and first time filmmakers who created movies to challenge and entertain audiences. From psychological and supernatural thrillers, horror, romantic comedies and dramas, the selection of films is tight with 37 in all, 20 of which are premieres. Exploring themes including love, disabilities, mental health, relationships, and triumph over adversity, all of the films were chosen based on creativity and execution. Included in the official selections for 2016 are films starring Katrina Law, Henry Winkler, Bruce Davison, Robert Picardo, Maria Bamford and a great number of Philadelphia area actors, producers and directors. Highlights of FirstGlance include an opening night happy hour, live filmmaker interviews on the red carpet with host Ivonna Cadavar, the raven-haired temptress who haunts, teases, and tantalizes viewers each week on nationally-syndicated "Macabre Theatre," and after parties with cast, crew, filmmakers and special invited guests at The Plough & the Stars and other Old City locations beginning around 10:30 p.m. after the last screenings each night.
Festival Director Bill Ostroff said, “We’re happy to have Painted Bride Art Center hosting the festival this year as they share our vision and mission of creating visibility for the work of local Philadelphia and independent artists. We look forward to planning a fun cinematic celebration for filmmakers and film fans alike with red carpet interviews and photos, premieres, and parties.”
