Isaac Hassel of Idaho Falls, Idaho, took first place in the humorous contest; Gillian Whitney of Providence, Utah, was first in the table topics contest.
Toastmasters humorous speech contests challenge contestants’ public speaking skills as well as their senses of humor while table topics demonstrates the ability to organize thoughts quickly while responding to an impromptu question or topic.
District 15 Toastmasters Program Quality Director Donna Oswald says, “Toastmasters is not just about developing yourself to be a better speaker and leader, but at the same time, it must be fun and enjoyable. Humorous and table topic speech contests provide a great value because they not only entertain the audience, they also provide a new level of preparation from the speaker.”
District level contests are held twice yearly, providing members, family and guests the opportunity to connect with contestants and each other.
