Jacobs/Brown Media Group Features Author Marc Cushman, Covering America’s Most Revered Pop Culture TV Series, Such as “Lost in Space,” “Star Trek"
Los Angeles, CA, October 30, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Jacobs/Brown Media Group's published books, through Jacobs/Brown Press, focus heavily on covering TV series which have changed the face of television, true impactful media which has utilized its influence to bring forth progress and the needed evolution of positive change in the world of television and society. Jacobs/Brown Press, located in Los Angeles, is a one-of-a-kind purveyor of extensively researched and detailed non-fiction, focusing on pop culture from the 1950's, '60's, '70's and 80's. Author Marc Cushman joined forces with Jacobs Brown Press in 2013, and is at the forefront of holding the standard high regarding authenticity in relation to bringing truth to light in pop culture. Through his writing, he takes readers on a journey where they learn the truths that many readers have referred to as fascinating, regarding some of history's most significant productions. Cushman has a passion for going to exhaustive lengths to bring all of the facts and stories together; using news stories from the past, vintage articles, reviews, and statistics to help bring the past to life in terms of pop culture. According to Cushman, he credits his experience as an established screenwriter to do this.
The first volume of Marc Cushman's latest book series, "Irwin Allen's Lost in Space," published in August of 2016, also serves as a long-overdue biography of series creator/producer and TV pioneer Irwin Allen. The book covers Allen's never-before-told rags to riches story, his success as an Academy Award-winning Hollywood producer (1953's "The Sea Around Us"), and maker of big-budget productions, such as 1972's "The Poseidon Adventure" and 1974's "The Towering Inferno". Cushman also writes about Allen's success as the 1960's most prolific producer of one-hour television dramas, with four series in production simultaneously - "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" (1964-68), "Lost in Space" (1965-68), "The Time Tunnel" (1966-67) and "Land of the Giants" (1968-70). A second volume of Cushman's book series which chronicles Allen's career in TV will be published in November by Jacobs/Brown, with the final volume arriving in January 2017.
Marc Cushman has written biographies of other classic TV series, including the landmark 1965-68 television production, "I Spy." He won a Saturn Award for his three-book set entitled, "These Are the Voyages," documenting the making and the impact of the original "Star Trek" series. Now, with "Irwin Allen's Lost in Space," Cushman goes full-circle, examining the series which opened the doors on network TV for "Star Trek." Cushman continued, "The story behind making of a series such as "Star Trek" is, for me, even more fascinating and dramatic than the series themselves." This is why according to Cushman's readers, his books represent authentic depictions of the productions, presenting in-depth information and knowledge which has never been published and, in many instance, truths never before uncovered by the great majority of fans. A member of Jacobs/Brown Press conveyed, "Leonard Nimoy called Cushman's research nothing short of 'astounding'." In the case of "Star Trek" as he states, "The public had been told since the series inception that it was a failure in terms of ratings when on the network, which is why the decision was made to take the series off of the air." "That is simply one of many folk lores," continued Cushman. He divulged, "Jacobs/Brown paid a significant sum to license Nelson's rating reports for every single episode of "Star Trek."
In discussing "Lost in Space," Cushman talked of Irwin Allen's journey in making the production and having it accepted by the network. He said, "Irwin Allen truly dared to go where no man had ever gone before. Allen was the one who proved to the networks that there was indeed an audience in America who would support a series of that type and to justify the expense of what was in a sense half of a science fiction movie each week." Few people understand the relentless battles that Allen fought while trying to bring his productions to television, or the ones that Gene Roddenberry fought in bringing "Star Trek" to us, or Sheldon Leonard in bringing "I Spy" to network TV. According to Jacobs/Brown Media Group and featured author Marc Cushman, their mission is to bring about the opportunity for the readers and devout series fans to walk a mile in the shoes of creator/producers such as Gene Roddenberry, Irwin Allen or Sheldon Leonard to witness and feel a semblance of their passion and perseverance, learning how much their productions helped to shape society in a positive and forward direction. "These men and their staffs were true television pioneers and greatly changed the face of television," concludes Cushman.
