Director of NIBIB to Give Keynote Talk at 3rd Imaging in Drug Development Conference – Mar. 17-18, San Diego

Monrovia, CA, January 26, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Roderic Pettigrew, Director at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging & Bioengineering, NIH will give the keynote presentation at GTCbio’s 3rd Imaging in Drug Development conference March 17-18, 2008 in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Pettigrew will discuss the importance of imaging in 21st century healthcare and its essential involvement in many aspects of the drug discovery process. Dr. Pettigrew’s research at the NIBIB focuses on combining the physical and biological sciences to develop new technologies that improve health. Their goal is to accelerate the pace of discovery and speed the development of biomedical technologies that prevent and treat illnesses.

Dr. Pettigrew is the first director of the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB). Before being appointed as director, he was a Professor of Radiology Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He also served as Director of the Emory Center for Magnetic Resonance Research at Emory University School of Medicine. He was also Professor of Bioengineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
