Families of World War II Veterans Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser
The Families of World War II Veterans annual scholarship fundraiser will be held on the shoreline of Lake Lewisville at the majestic Old American Golf Club on Thursday, November 10, 2016 – the day before Veterans Day.
Frisco, TX, November 07, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Non-profit organization Families of World War II Veterans announced today its annual scholarship fundraiser will be held on the shoreline of Lake Lewisville at the majestic Old American Golf Club on Thursday, November 10, 2016 – the day before Veterans Day.
Families of World War II Veterans is a non-profit, worldwide organization based in Frisco and dedicated to preserving the historic lessons of World War II and honoring the sacrifices of World War II veterans. One of the primary goals of the organization is to award scholarships to students pursuing undergraduate and post-graduate education. Each year, this organization hosts an event to help meet its scholarship award goal.
Founded and chaired by Barbara Fasola, CEO of Frisco-based Careington International Corporation, Families of World War II Veterans was created in 2010 in honor of Fasola’s father, a local World War II veteran who served in the South Pacific and will attend this year’s golf tournament.
Fasola said she was inspired to create Families of World War II Veterans on a visit to Normandy, France with her father and mother. “It was on this trip that I realized I wanted to somehow bring a piece of Normandy and the story of the brave participants who played a role in this war to future generations who may not be as closely connected as I am,” said Fasola. “The idea to create a charity that celebrated the heroes and the sacrifices of these men and women by awarding scholarships to deserving young college-bound students seemed like a perfect fit.”
Careington is proud to continue its tradition of hosting and co-sponsoring this annual fundraising golf tournament in an effort to join forces to celebrate yesterday's heroes while empowering the heroes of tomorrow. Funds raised from the golf tournament help expand the organization’s reach by creating additional scholarship opportunities awarded to students in the north Texas area who show an interest in and can express the significance of World War II.
Other local event sponsors include HealthMarkets and QualBe Marketing Group. Corporate event sponsors from around the nation include Axia Strategies, Beecher Evergreen Managed Care, Government Employees Health Association, and more. A complete list of sponsors can be found on the Families of World War II Veterans website.
Registration for the annual Families of World War II Veterans Golf Tournament begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shot gun start promptly at 9:00 a.m. The event will also include a silent auction and raffle. Guests who have traveled from all parts of the nation will be greeted with WWII-era cars and music of the 1940s and will enjoy the golf course via carts named after actual World War II aircraft and ships, providing a snapshot of historical significance to supporters.
