Medicare.gov Certifies Centers Health Care's Boro Park Center as a 5-Star Facility
Flagship Facility Receives Top Scores in Health Inspections & Quality Measures
Brooklyn, NY, November 10, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, the 504-bed flagship facility of the Centers Health Care family since 2011, has earned an overall 5-star facility rating by Medicare.gov in their comparison of more than 15,000 Medicare- and Medicaid-participating nursing homes. The pristine facility, built and designed as a means of creating an upscale facility appropriately serving the surrounding ethnic communities in Boro Park, is not only fully committed to the large Jewish community there but also to serving the growing Asian community as well.
“This 5-star rating surely demonstrates the dedication of the entire staff at Boro Park,” said Kenny Rozenberg, CEO of Centers Health Care, the largest post-acute health care continuum in New York. “Boro Park, being our lead facility, clearly sets the example that our other facilities should follow. Earning recognition as a 5-star facility only proves this as we provide the people of Boro Park with the highest quality short and long-term health care available.”
Boro Park Center scored impressive numbers in several categories including:
- Nearly 67 percent of short-term residents were successfully discharged to the community, 17.5 percent higher than the New York State and national averages.
- Only about nine percent of short-term residents report moderate to severe pain, which is 25 percent lower than the New York State average and 50 percent lower than the national average.
- Only 7.6 percent of Boro Park long-term residents need for help increased, versus the New York State average of 14.1 percent and less than half the national average of 15.3 percent.
“We are so proud of these numbers,” said David Greenberg, Administrator of Boro Park Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. “This is all a result of our combination of a dedicated, compassionate and attentive staff and employees who are willing to go the extra mile to ensure the well-being of all our residents.”
Last year, Centers began a second phase of development whereby the facility renovated two full floors to create The Asian Community at Boro Park dedicated to the growing population of Asian residents in the surrounding neighborhood. Additionally, the facility started an “Ultra Care Unit,” which allows for the transition of patients from hospital care to skilled nursing care more safely and comfortably, and with a markedly lower risk of re-hospitalization.
"Our Ultra Care Unit is providing the kind of transitional care that has been missing from the healthcare community for too long," explained Mr. Greenberg. “We have implemented quality measures like this over the years to ensure our residents have the best possible outcomes. Outcomes, like these, prove it’s working and these results are a true testament to how we, as a Centers Health Care facility, care deeply about providing our residents with the best of everything. It is the groundwork for great things to come.”
Its state-of-the-art physical therapy suite, boasting a full apartment where therapists can help residents with mastering the activities of daily living, has been viewed as the model by which other facilities are measured. The facility also offers a fully kosher kitchen, a magnificent Shul and a spectacular lobby offering a look and atmosphere that invites comparison to 21st century global luxury hotels. The future is very bright for Boro Park Center where additional specialties are planned and preliminary construction has begun, enabling the Centers family to continue to set the highest standards of excellence in care and lifestyle for Boro Park residents.
