ITSENCLOSURES is Exclusive Supplier of Digital Signage Enclosures at COTA's CMAX Bus Stops
COTA, the Central Ohio Transit Authority, integrates outdoor LCD enclosures in the new CMAX bus shelters to display dynamic digital signage.
Mt. Pleasant, PA, November 11, 2016 --(PR.com)-- ITSENCLOSURES, the leader in outdoor LCD enclosures, is named the exclusive supplier of high-bright LCD enclosures for COTA, the Central Ohio Transit Authority’s new CMAX rapid transit bus stops. CMAX will improve transit service and provide more options for travelers. The project has been in the works for over two years and is expected to be completed the first quarter of 2018.
In the summer of 2014, COTA contacted ITSENCLOSURES about deploying digital signage at the new CMAX bus stops around the city of Columbus, Ohio. CMAX is the city’s bus rapid transit line that is set to begin officially running in the Spring of 2018. According to COTA’s website, “CMAX will connect customers to major destinations along Cleveland Avenue between downtown Columbus and Polaris Parkway/Africa Road. The limited-stop service will complement regular service on COTA's second busiest line at 64 stops along Cleveland Avenue.”
The CMAX project required a custom environmental LCD enclosure to be housed in a large pylon, attached to a bus shelter. Considering the complexity of the project and having worked successfully with ITSENCLOSURES on previous transportation projects, COTA felt confident that the new CMAX digital signage vision would become a reality with ITSENCLOSURES tried and true outdoor products.
After reviewing various options, COTA made the informed decision to install ITSENCLOSURES’ custom, fan cooled LCD enclosures. For prototype and review, COTA purchased and built a fully functioning CMAX shelter in the winter of 2016. The unit is currently installed at the COTA headquarters, which is located at 1333 Fields Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. COTA plans to install a combination of pylons, single and double sided, at each CMAX bus stop to display real-time arrival and departure information.
Each enclosure is equipped with a 47” high bright LCD and a thermostatically controlled fan and heater system to protect the electronics in the extreme weather conditions of central Ohio. The enclosure also safely houses a media player to ensure seamless content delivery. In all, COTA purchased 77 LCD enclosures, which will be installed throughout the 2017 calendar year. The innovative enclosures will be housed in a total of 64 pylons throughout Columbus.
JT Spangler, President of ITSENCLOSURES, visited COTA’s headquarters to see the first CMAX bus stop installation. He was pleased to observe how COTA incorporated ITSENCLOSURES' outdoor LCD enclosure into the new bus stop design. “The overall look of the bus stop is fantastic and eye-catching. I was happy to see our enclosure installed at the new bus stop test site.” Mr. Spangler continued, “We enjoy working with COTA and have experienced a great amount of success with them. COTA has an excellent approach to deploying digital signage outdoors and installs only high quality products. We hope to continue to work with COTA for many years to come.”
For over a decade, ITSENCLOSURES has installed state-of-the-art outdoor LCD enclosures throughout the United States, Canada, and the Caribbean.
