Praise FM 89.5 (WSRX) Announces New Call-In Radio Show "Live With Dr. Dobbins" Featuring Renowned Christian Psychologist Airing Sunday Evenings

Naples, FL, January 27, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Praise FM’s (WSRX) Station Manager Arnie Coones is excited to announce a brand new call-in radio program scheduled for each Sunday night from 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM – “Live with Dr. Dobbins” with Dr. Richard Dobbins, Christian Psychologist and Pastor. The show is broadcast at 89.5 on the FM dial in Southwest Florida and world-wide through the radio station’s website on www.PraiseFM.com and will strive to bring “practical how to’s” for “Biblical ought to’s”.
Dr. Dobbins says, “I am excited by the opportunity and challenge Pastor Mallory and Arnie Coones have extended to me for this unique program on Praise FM. Dr. Dobbins is no stranger to the pain of life. His childhood was marked with the knowledge that his birth also ended his mother's life. This painful experience ultimately led him into a deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In his late teens, Dr. Dobbins felt called to the ministry and pursued a higher understanding by studying theology at Eastern Bible Institute (now Valley Forge Christian College) and Central Bible Institute (now Central Bible College).
Dr. Dobbins began a church in Akron, Ohio in 1950 and saw it grow from 14 people to over 1,000 during the 26 years he was a pastor. During this time he realized how unprepared he was to help people find practical ways of relating their faith to the problem-solving, decision-making processes of their lives. So, in 1959 he went back to college and earned a B.A. and M.A. in psychology, as well as a PhD in Counseling over the next 10 years of his pastoral ministry. In 1974, he began a Christian Mental Health Center in Akron that continues to minister to several hundred people a year, including ministers and missionaries from all over the U.S. and many other parts of the world. In addition to his academic degrees, Dr. Dobbins holds an honorary doctorate from Ashland Theological Seminary.
Dr. Dobbins’ work has been published in over 50 books, articles and other media in the U.S. and several foreign countries. He has lectured at universities and led hundreds of seminars and has also served on numerous non-profit boards. In 2003, The American Association of Christian Counselors presented Dr. Dobbins with special recognition for his pioneer work in the Christian Mental Health field.
