The company becomes the first in the state of Arizona to offer a free online professional development program specifically for substitute teachers.

(ESI), an employee staffing firm based in Scottsdale, AZ, has announced its professional development program for substitute teachers, the Sanford 7. The program, part of ESI’s Sanford Inspire professional development initiative, consists of a series of online modules or courses, which substitute teachers can take for free. It is the first program of its kind in the state of Arizona. The online series was designed from existing Sanford Inspire modules to create a development track to help substitute teachers maximize their students’ potential.
“Working with Sanford Inspire through Arizona State University has allowed us to reach more classrooms and more students than we could have imagined,” says Tom Hancock, Vice President of Human Resources at ESI. “Continuing to build upon our Sanford 7 program has us looking toward the future and continuing to increase student achievement across the state.”
The Sanford 7 modules include “Building Relationships with Students,” “Giving Clear Directions for a Task,” “Basic Proactive Classroom Management,” “Delivering Effective Feedback,” “Structuring Cooperative Learning,” “Helping Students Believe They Can Learn” and “Giving Effective Praise.”
“The Sanford 7 was a direct result of feedback from our substitute teachers,” Hancock added. “We had an overwhelming request for professional development, and we are thrilled we were able to deliver such an effective and comprehensive program.”
