#ServingHopeLV Founder Wins "Hometown Hero" Contest for Work with Las Vegas Homeless Population

Siloh Moses, the founder of #ServingHopeLV, is recognized for his work with the homeless community in Las Vegas in Cox Communication Media’s "Hometown Hero" contest.

Las Vegas, NV, December 06, 2016 --(PR.com)-- #ServingHopeLV, which started just one year ago, has been working hard to eliminate homelessness in Las Vegas, starting with serving hope through both warm meals and compassion. Called a “give-forward” organization, inspired by its founder’s own experiences being homeless and his desire to give forward as soon as he was back on his feet, #ServingHopeLV has been doing just that, serving over 64,000 meals in 2016.

Siloh Moses may have started #ServingHopeLV modestly, taking a pot of spaghetti from his own sparse kitchen just weeks after getting off the streets and into permanent housing, himself, the movement quickly grew. He is now joined each Monday by over 60 dedicated volunteers.

Moses was recognized for his work in a contest ran by Cox Communications Media for the work that he has done to make life better for the homeless, unemployed, and underemployed of Las Vegas. As the winner of the “Hometown Hero” contest, he was awarded four tickets to WWE SummerSlam and recognized by the producers of SummerSlam in front of a crowd of 2,500 ticket-holders. Joined by #ServingHopeLV’s most dedicated volunteer, Moses was able to meet the wrestlers backstage prior to the show and received autographed memorabilia from the wrestlers.

Moses says, “It was such an honor to win the Hometown Hero contest. Although the award was technically for an individual, it is truly for all our volunteers. Without them, #ServingHopeLV wouldn’t be possible.” Moses adds, “I am so inspired by my volunteers every day. They challenge me to do better than yesterday, so that we can eventually eliminate homelessness in Las Vegas.”

There are 35,000 people living on the streets of Las Vegas. In 2016, alone, #ServingHopeLV helped get over 100 people off the streets and into permanent housing. With #ServingHopeLV’s growing volunteer corps, their goal for 2017 is to get 6,000 additional people into permanent housing.

#ServingHopeLV

#ServingHopeLV is a completely independent grassroots community give-back organization dedicated to eliminating homelessness and poverty in the Vegas Valley through giftivism—genuine acts of kindness so radical that they spark change in not just ourselves, but the world, as well. Last year, alone, #ServingHopeLV gave away 64,000 individual meals to those who couldn’t afford one, had over 5,000 volunteers join them in their cause, and saved 100 lives from homelessness by placing them into permanent housing.
