The Arizona Vegetarian Food Festival is Returning for Its Third Year Better Than Ever

Scottsdale, AZ, December 15, 2016 --(PR.com)-- Is there such a thing as humane meat? Can you follow the super-trendy “paleo” diet and still be a vegan? These and other questions will be explored at the third annual Arizona Vegetarian Food Festival, January 28-29, 2017 at the Scottsdale Civic Center Amphitheater. “Last year’s AZ Vegetarian Food Festival was so well received by the community that we are bringing it back to Scottsdale with two full days of diverse plant-based vendors, speakers, entertainment and activities for all ages” said festival co-founder Nira Paliwoda.

Encompassing more than just food, the AZ Vegetarian Food Festival offers a plant-based, cruelty-free smorgasbord of specially curated lifestyle and food vendors, expert speakers, chef demos, live entertainment, and athletic and wellness activities.

Among the talent featured this year is Jason Wyrick, Executive Chef of The Vegan Taste, NY Times Bestselling co-author of 21 Day Weight Loss Kickstart and author of Vegan Tacos and Vegan Mexico. He is the first vegan instructor to teach in the Le Cordon Bleu program and publisher of the world's first vegan food magazine, The Vegan Culinary Experience. In 2001, Chef Wyrick defeated Type II diabetes and lost over 100 pounds by going vegan. Since then, he has helped thousands of people and animals with his work. He currently travels the world teaching vegan cooking classes and managing his vegan meal delivery service.

Pastry chef, culinary instructor and cookbook author Fran Costigan also joins the line-up. Fran is internationally renowned as the authority on vegan desserts. Her unapologetically luscious treats lack nothing—except dairy, eggs, white sugar, and cholesterol. Professionally trained, Fran was a chef in both traditional and vegan pastry kitchens before moving into teaching over 20 years ago.

Back again this year, favorites such as Lulu's Sorbetto will have their famous hot coffee floats on tap. Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods will be sampling their delectable display of hummus varieties. Sweet tooth and fashion favorite, The Underground Faction, will have their delicious vegan cookies and clothing on hand. Pioneers in plant-based food innovation, Follow Your Heart will be showcasing their Vegenaise, Vegan Cheese and introducing their remarkable VeganEgg.

“There will also be an emphasis on local establishments,” Festival co-founder Sarah Gross said. “The Arizona market is just bursting with new vegan innovation, and we want to feature all of that at the Festival.” Attendees can enjoy tacos from Mi Vegana Madre, street corn from The Coronado PHX and wash it all down with an organic, raw cold pressed juice from Juice Core all in one place.

In addition to the speakers, food demos and plant-based vendors, there will be non-profit information tables from such estimable organizations as the Animal Defense Fund, The Save Movement, Share International, Humane Project, and CFEI (Compassionate Farming Education Initiative).

Attendees will also enjoy musical entertainment and fitness activities including yoga classes for both kids and adults. Organizers stress that the event is family-friendly with free admission for kids ages 10 and under. There is even a special kids area devoted to activities for children.

But is the event only for diehard vegans? Absolutely not. Attendees run the gamut from vegetarians and uber-healthy eaters, to the merely veg-curious and the serious omnivores. “There are a lot of amazing plant-based options out there that everyone should at least try no matter what their epicurean habits are. This festival is simply centered on providing access to a wide variety of delicious food in a fun-loving atmosphere,” says Paliwoda. Gross elaborated, “No one goes away hungry. And most stagger away, amazed at how delicious and varied vegan products can be.”

The AZ Vegetarian Food Festival is presented by U.S. Veg Corp, a plant-based events planning company which founded the wildly popular New York City Vegetarian Food Festival 6 years ago. Since then, the organization has branched out to other cities, most recently launching the CA Vegetarian Food Festival in Los Angeles in 2016. They are experts in the plant-based and environmental space, offering large-scale expos as well as more intimate social gatherings where people can hobnob with others exploring plant-based and eco-friendly options.
