Camilo Him’s Big Show Becomes Part of LACMA Art Collection
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) recent acquisition of the Sheats-Goldstein House this year includes art from Camilo Him’s Big Show.
Los Angeles, CA, December 29, 2016 --(PR.com)-- The house designed by architect John Lautner in 1963 has been dubbed “A Work Of Art” by NPR and “The Most Spectacular House In Los Angeles” by Curbed Los Angeles.
James Goldstein, the owner of the house, a NBA superfan, fashion lover as well as architecture curator and connoisseur, has bequeathed his magnificent architecture jewel located in the breathtaking hills of Beverly Hills to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. This acquisition also includes a skyspace structure by light and space artist James Turrell as well as works by Ed Ruscha, DeWain Valentine, Bernar Venet, Camilo Him and Kenny Scharf -among others.
In addition, the entire James Goldstein’s wardrobe (which includes his hat collection, belts, boots) and countless photos of him with celebrities, NBA stars, top fashion designers and supermodels are now part of the magnificent LACMA art collection.
The house has been the backdrop to films such as “The Big Lebowski,” and “Charlie’s Angels.” Steven Meisel, Mario Testino, Ellen von Unwerth, Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton and many other brilliant photographers have shot in the house over the years for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire and GQ magazines.
In recent years, James Goldstein expanded the compound to include a private club lounge with a long LED wall screen and an infinity tennis court on top.
The Sheats-Goldstein House is LACMA’s first house acquisition and will be used for fundraisers, exhibitions and conferences. Limited tours are planned while Mr. Goldstein is still living in the house.
