OTK Media Group, Inc. Produced “Hollywood, Unapologetic!” - “Lessons and Significance of ‘Wakaliwood’ to the New Hollywood Generation” Episode
Los Angeles, CA, January 11, 2017 --(PR.com)-- OTK Media Group, Inc. and Emmy® Award winner Orlando Delbert have successfully produced and released the last episode of the first season of ‘Hollywood, Unapologetic!’ – “Lessons and Significance of ‘Wakaliwood’ to the New Hollywood Generation” as part of the ‘New Hollywood Generation’ movement.
“When I first heard about ‘Wakaliwood’ and director Isaac Nabwana, I was just blown away,” said Delbert. “They are a real-world example of a community of filmmakers that believe so much in their craft, they have built a family-like environment. People from other parts of Africa and around the world have traveled to Uganda to be part their productions. They produce a feature-length film about once a month, with an average cost of about $180 a piece.”
‘Wakaliwood’ is a motion picture studio and production house that has been becoming very popular for years in East Africa, as well as drawing a cult following overseas. Motion picture director Isaac Nabwana’s production company, Ramon Film Productions, have produced to date at least 46 feature length motion pictures. And they’re still going. Around 200 foreigners last year alone traveled to the slum, and some of them found themselves cast in their films.

“The lessons to be learned here is simple: when you really want to do something, you can always find a way,” said Delbert. “For Mr. Nabwana, he has been able to build the support of the local community. Children from his village, including his daughter train for roles at Wakaliwood’s in-house Kung Fu school. They build their own props from scrap metal and car parts. The computer he edits his films on were built from discarded motherboards and keyboards. Even the camera cranes and tripods are made from tractor parts. They even have a full-scale fake helicopter they made themselves.”

“Their significance to the New Hollywood Generation is actually huge,” said Delbert. “Whether you are a fan of their style of storytelling, shoot-‘em-up bloody action or kung-fu films, or not, they have built such a huge fan base from all over the world, many of which are drawn to the dedication shown by the cast and crew. And despite not having much money to produce these films, and the fact that Uganda’s film industry is massively pirated, they continue on. These men and women are proof-positive that when people can come together for a common goal, they can achieve anything. They came together to make motion pictures, and they continue to find a way.”

The ‘Hollywood, Unapologetic!’ web-series and the “Pollyanna’s Tear Soaked Battlefields of Hollywood: A Survival Guide Against the Cynicism and the Hypocritical” series of books were designed to be at the core of the ‘New Hollywood Generation’ as a progressive movement to encourage discussions that will initiate constructive lines of thought in the hopes to get young people to become thought leaders and to create a positive voice for themselves, their communities, and one another.
