Morbid Myths in the February Previews Catalog from Diamond Comics

The long awaited release of the first volume of Morbid Myths is within reach.

Spruce Pine, NC, February 01, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Hard Way Studios and Alterna Comics (publisher) are proud to announce that Morbid Myths Volume one is currently in February 2008 Previews Catalog by Diamond Comics.

Morbid Myths is a horror comic with a touch of the lighter side of things, or as one reviewer puts it: “Morbid Myths is lighter than most EC comics, and takes itself less seriously than The Twilight Zone ever did, and because of its tone, and lack of pretension, ends up being more enjoyable, as if it isn't a comic anthology at all but a series of well known urban myths being told around a camp fire.” Wizard Magazine, the comic industries leading information magazine rated Morbid Myths #39 in the top 40 independent comics to read in 2007. They said “...a richly etched-out and stunningly well-inked ongoing series...”

The book has been reviewed by several sources across the internet with a good review on all of them. A few excerpts are quoted below:

“There was some really sharp monochrome artwork in this issue. If this team will be on-board for the duration of the series, it'll have a very quality look to back any future content.”
- 3 star review by Alex Haas (Indycomicreview.com)

“...could easily fit in between the worlds of Army of Darkness and
Shaun of the Dead... (Morbid Myths #1)”
“Mixing a smartly dark sense of humor with absurd curiosity... (Morbid Myths #2)”
- C Zuga (Skullring.org)

“The characters immediately draw you in. They may be weird but they definitely are likable. You'll find yourself instantly caring about them.”
- 5 star review by Richard Vasseur (Jazmaonline.com)

“...a richly etched-out and stunningly well-inked ongoing series...”
- Wizard Comics Magazine (Top 40 Indie Must-Reads of 2007)

“The art by Dwayne Biddix is cool, indie realistic black and white stuff but he really does make the story flow along, keeping your attention page by page.”
- 8/10 review by Iann Robinson (Former MTV VJ)

“Morbid Myths is lighter than most EC comics, and takes itself less seriously than The Twilight Zone ever did, and because of its tone, and lack of pretension, ends up being more enjoyable, as if it isn't a comic anthology at all but a series of well known urban myths being told around a camp fire.”
- 3 star review by Josh Buchin (Silverbulletcomics.com)

“Overall, Morbid Myths is a great effort with great art, good pacing a good horror comic host — and some good stories.”
- T.E. Pouncy (Geeksofdoom.com)

“While neither of these stories are necessarily (in my jaded opinion) “scary” in that “sends you screaming from your bed at night” sense, they do get under your skin and lay into you with a vague disquiet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's good horror storytelling.”
- 4 star review by Alex Haas (Indycomicreview.com)

The revolving art team on this book brings new talent up to the plate and they really do shine on this book. This is a great book to get into and many of the familiar characters which fans of the title have shown a great following for will be returning in Volume two of the series as well as the new characters that are introduced later in Volume One.

The book can be ordered from Diamond Comics from the February Previews Catalog with the order code FEB08 3421 (page 210) or you can go to the Alterna Comics Homepage and order your copy online. The official date the comic will be on store shelves is April 2008.
