Non Profit Lantawood to Provide Free Training to Atlanta Movie Producers

Experienced and first time movie producers get opportunity for free training and career assistance to boost the new movie industry of the South, growing from Atlanta, Georgia.

Atlanta, GA, January 31, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Starting March, 2008 Lantawood Inc, an Atlanta-based non-profit organization providing movie production knowledge and tools, is providing “Hands on Producer” movie production training to low and moderate-income Atlanta area residents. The Lantawood program will be hosted at Atlanta Filmworks in Oakland City, Atlanta, Georgia.

Lantawood will provide free movie production workshop aimed at developing a strong bank of movie producers to take advantage of the career opportunities that the new movie industry of the South brings. Sessions are at Atlanta Filmworks' location Tuesdays through Thursdays from 4-6:00 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. on Saturdays through the end of April 2008. Lantawood will also be providing crew and production facilities including editing equipment, props and video cameras for actual movie projects in various neighborhoods in Atlanta with the partnership of Atlanta Filmworks and AK Records.

After receiving 8 hours of low budget movie production training, HOP Project participants will be eligible to begin producing their first feature movie. Atlanta Filmworks has worked closely in producing low budget movies within the community since 2003.

The Lantawood vision is that of foundation building. The organization has acquired and is developing the resources needed to lay the foundation of a viable movie industry here in the South which will bring both employment and wholesome entertainment.

Atlanta Filmworks has partnered with Theatre Lovers Ensemble’s Marilyn Evans, to train a new breed of actor ready to hit the screen in the various movies to be produced and released locally this year. Although this will give the Hands on Producers mainly fresh talent to work with, it also gives the public fresh talent to watch. This could be considered a breath of fresh air from the stereotypical Hollywood scene.

Members of the local and community news media are invited to observe the Hands on Producer (HOP Project) workshop, and speak with Lantawood representatives so as to help get the message out to our communities.

In partnership with Atlanta Filmworks, Lantawood’s Hands on Producer training is for people who can not afford conventional film schools and courses but are ready to learn “hands on” techniques and get into a career path fast. Lantawood offers “real” movie industry opportunities and various areas of training in order to harvest the available raw materials and manpower and focus these on commercial movie making within and outside our communities.

In 2007, Atlanta Filmworks released 3 movies using 100 percent local raw materials and talent.
