EDM Americas to Host Sixth Annual "EDM4USTroops" Charity Golf Outing
EDM to partner with Enable America to celebrate U.S. Troops.
Raleigh, NC, January 25, 2017 --(PR.com)-- EDM, an international leader in information management services, today announced its 6th annual EDM4USTROOPS Charity Golf Tournament will take place on Monday, June 5th, 2017 at Prestonwood Country Club from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
To offer further support to North Carolina’s military presence, the 3rd largest military footprint in the U.S., all net proceeds will be donated to the honorees and our non-profit partners.
The EDM4USTroops Charity Golf Tournament is produced in partnership with Enable America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities find employment and live independently. This annual event is held to thank and honor the men and women of the US military and their families. The event was founded and established in 2011 by EDM’s COO, Arun Singh. Also partnering with EDM is the Soldiers and Airmen Assistance Fund (SAAF), a non-profit organization founded in 2004 with the purpose of supporting the needs of those serving our great State of North Carolina during peace and wartime. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Eastern North Carolina also joins EDM by donating to veteran families with children with life-threatening medical conditions.
During this year’s event, EDM and Enable America will host an awards ceremony to recognize and honor four injured servicemen. Each honoree was nominated by past EDM4USTROOPS honorees for their bravery and leadership in combat and civilian life. Awarded soldiers will receive a cash reward for their sacrifice and service. The 2017 nominees include Spc. Mario Keck, retired Sgt. Joshua Czerepka, retired Sgt. John Rice and retired Sgt. Ian Sorsch.
Keck enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 24 years old. In 2013, he proceeded on a high profile mission with several generals and sustained gunshot wounds to his right leg. As a result of his service, Keck has received several Army Commendation Medals, the Purple Heart, a Combat Infantrymen Badge and numerous other awards for his acts of valor.
Czerepka served six years and deployed twice to Afghanistan before medically retiring from the U.S. Marines in 2015. His first deployment was to Musa Qalah, Afghanistan in 2010. In 2011, shortly after returning from his first deployment, he was promoted to squad leader and served his second deployment to Kajaki, Afghanistan in 2012.
Rice was raised in a military family. After leaving college to enlist in the Marine Corps, he deployed to Iraq. In 2008, his career ended prematurely during a routine patrol in Iraq. Rice stepped on an anti-personnel mine and suffered severe injuries to his lower body and both legs. Due to the quick response and expertise of the field medic, Rice’s legs were eligible for limb salvage. He has since received a Purple Heart, Navy Achievement Medal and Combat Action Ribbon.
Sorsch served in the U.S. Army for eight years, from September 2008 to July 2016, as an infantry mortarman. During his service, he was deployed twice to Afghanistan as well as earned an Army Accommodation Medal, four Army Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, a Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Marksmanship Badge, and the German Army Expert Marksmanship Badge. Sorsch suffered a traumatic brain injury that occurred during the evacuation of a combat zone. Since medically retiring from the Army, he strives to help other disabled veterans by making himself available for support and council.
“At EDM, we’re committed to honoring and awarding our U.S. troops, who continue to make sacrifices every day for the safety and wellbeing of their country’s citizens,” said Arun Singh, COO of EDM Americas. “We consider it our duty and a privilege to recognize heroes such as Spc. Keck, Sgt. Czerepka, Sgt. Rice and Sgt. Sorsch for their service to the country.”
