Charleston Career Coach Offers "New" Service for New College Grads

"I have been coaching new college grads for several years, but now I'm also offering a new service to help them transition from college to the job market," says Ms. Curry, who has more than 12 years experience in coaching. It can be overwhelming for a new grad who may have unrealistic expectations or just be clueless about what to do. Parents can also get frustrated when this happens and it can be stressful for everyone involved. "As a Coach I realize that sometimes a 'meet and greet' coaching session with the parents can be a good first step. After I meet with the parents and get the backstory on their new college grad, I develop a strategy for their son or daughter, and then begin coaching sessions designed for their specific needs." Most new college grads do not come out of college prepared for the job market. They need coaching and help to improve their interview skills. Some may also benefit from social skills coaching as well. Ms. Curry has specialized training in behavioral/scenario interviewing techniques, a broad-based knowledge of different selection processes, and three years of experience as a volunteer for a grief loss program. "I try to be sensitive to the needs of all my clients and always protect their privacy," Curry noted.
