Leadership Development Program Impacts Over 1 Million Students Nation-Wide
Oviedo, FL, February 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Seven of the 20 largest school districts in the United States now use the Accelerated School Administrator Program (ASAP) for professional learning, impacting 1.3 million students. The program has had a 86 percent increase in enrollment since the program's inception.
Urban school districts across the U.S. are feeling the impact of a shortage in qualified school administrator candidates.
ASAP Program Director, Dr. Mary Ellen Bafumo, has seen the program expand in urban areas in part due to the development of an innovative assessment tool for school administration candidates, the Educational Leadership Assessment (ELA).
“Large urban districts must prepare many administrative candidates,” said Bafumo. “They are using ASAP’s Educational Leadership Assessment to help develop effective candidates. The assessment allows districts to personalize a professional learning plan for each administrative candidate. The ELA shows every individual where to focus their learning in order to meet their leadership goals. The results then direct busy leaders to online ASAP modules available 24/7 for high-quality, interactive learning.”
Lynn Wade of Hillsborough County School District in Florida has seen the power of ASAP first hand.
Wade, the Supervisor of Management Training for his county, said: “In the past, we paid consultants to come in and assess the participants by observing them in three different situations. This was very cumbersome, time consuming, and expensive. ASAP ELA has saved us many hours of preparation and expense. We have seen a 60% saving with ASAP ELA.”
“It’s our best year yet,” said Bafumo. “Schools are benefiting from using the program. Administrators are seeing positive growth in their knowledge and skills. The best news is that well-prepared administrators provide better leadership. This in turn has a dramatic impact on increasing student achievement.”
The Council for Educational Change developed the Accelerated School Administrator Program through a partnership with international elearning company Etraffic Solutions. ASAP addresses the nation-wide administrator shortage in the United States and Canada.
