O'Briens Invite Clansmen on Historic Pilgrimage to Ireland
St. Petersburg, FL, February 03, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The O’Brien Clan Foundation is pleased to announce a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to attend an exciting pilgrimage to Ireland and follow the historic journey of Brian Boru, the country’s greatest High King.
An event-filled eight-day pilgrimage to Ireland in October 2017 has been organized by the O’Brien Clan Foundation, dubbed the Brian Boru Trail Tour. Guests will have the chance to explore the many picturesque, history-rich areas of the country, while staying in a selection of top-quality hotels. This year’s tour will be led by veteran independent journalist Miles O’Brien, best known for his TV correspondence and productions for CNN and PBS, among others.
Brian Boru was the High King of Ireland from 1002 to 1014 and was the founder of the O’Brien Dynasty—a noble house that ruled the Kingdoms of Munster and Thomond for centuries. Tour guests will walk along the Cliffs of Moher, which Boru himself passed on his journey, visit the Rock of Cashel where Boru was crowned High King of Ireland in 978 and observe his final resting place in Armagh.
Pilgrimage participants will also have the chance to visit other sites of Irish cultural significance, including Kylemore Abbey, the Aran Islands, O’Brien’s Tower and a venue dedicated to the country’s Patron Saint, St. Patrick. There is ample time set aside for independent sightseeing, shopping and relaxation during the trip.
At the conclusion of each day’s activities, tour guests will be able to relax and unwind in a hand-picked four-star hotel. The Park House in Galway, the Inn at Dromoland in Clare and the Clontarf Castle Hotel in Dublin have been carefully chosen to provide pilgrimage participants with excellent lodgings.
In addition to organizing the annual Brian Boru Trail Tour, part of the Clan Foundation’s mission is to raise funds and provide scholarships for Irish students to attend Dublin’s Trinity College and participate in a summer school program focused on Ireland’s history. During the 2016 pilgrimage, Clan Foundation members presented a check for €3,450 (approximately $3,700) to the Trinity Access Program and €1,000 (approximately $1,100) to The O’Brien Summer School. These scholarships assist students in need of financial support for tuition and accommodation so that they may pursue their educational goals. It is hoped the Clan Foundation can make similar donations during this year’s pilgrimage.
The October 10-17, 2017 Brian Boru Trail Tour pricing includes all transfers, eight night’s accommodation, daily breakfast, and many of the fees associated with the tour’s planned excursions and meals. To make reservations, visit the O’Brien Clan website at www.obrienclan.com or call Irish Tourism toll free at 1-877-298-7205 or e-mail at groups@irishtourism.com.
