VITAHL Medical Aesthetics Botox Ad Sparks Anger, Social Media Backlash
Controversial billboard advertisement located at 20th and Arapahoe in Denver sparks social media backlash.
Denver, CO, February 08, 2017 --(PR.com)-- VITAHL Medical Aesthetics set off a social-media firestorm over ads for its new location at 1540 Wazee in downtown Denver. The advertisement, found on a billboard at 20th and Arapahoe, contains three large syringes with needles. The ad copy reads: "Pick Your Poison" and along with past ads that state “Bad Hair Day” for laser hair removal and “Fat Blaster” for body sculpting have ignited controversy within the community.
“Who wants to look at an ad of syringes?” stated Lauren Camel, who commented on the company’s Facebook page, “is the ad suggesting Botox is equally as dangerous as injecting yourself with heroin; the choice is yours?” she continues.
This is not the first time the staff at VITAHL Medical Aesthetics has received feedback on the infamous “Pick Your Poison” ad, which is also located in the front window of their Cherry Creek location. “We once had an unhappy community member stop in to let us know she also did not like the needles,” stated Rachel Beavers, Assistant Manager. “We understand that the ad isn’t for everyone, but the feedback proves it works!”
Medical Director and owner, Dr. Tahl Humes responded to Ms. Camel promptly, “We are sorry to hear that you are offended by the play on words, but we do understand that not all advertising speaks to everyone. We do want to clarify that Botox used for medical purposes is purified and not a poison. It is found in the soil and considered natural. We would welcome you to come in to either of our offices to meet our amazing team, we think if you looked past not liking our billboard you will find some amazing women who love their patients.”
VITAHL Medical Aesthetics offers a wide variety of skin care services from Botox to laser resurfacing and has opened their second location at 1540 Wazee in Denver last November.
