The Art Institute is Orange County’s Newest Name in Fashion
Orange County's only bachelor’s degree program in fashion is accepting students for Spring 2008 quarter
Santa Ana, CA, February 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Art Institute of California – Orange County arrives on the fashion scene March 31 with new degree programs in Fashion Design (Bachelor of Fine Arts) and Fashion Marketing & Management (Bachelor of Science).
“With South Coast Plaza down the street and so many surf, skate and street wear clothing companies right in our backyard, adding fashion to the list of available degree programs at The Art Institute was a natural development,” said Melinda Lester, Dean of Academic Affairs. “As a design school, we have the expertise and resources available to expand our educational programs to meet the demands of this particular market.”
To celebrate the arrivals of the two fashion programs, The Art Institute invites the public to attend Rock the Runway on March 1. This fashion, music and arts festival will feature live music from the Dirty Heads (more bands to be announced), a fashion show showcasing local designers and a special performance by DJ Mark Moreno. Food will be provided by the guys from the Food Network’s 2 Dudes Catering.
“There are many opportunities to build relationships between our students and the local fashion community,” said Mary Ann Gale, Fashion Academic Department Director. “Rock the Runway offers local designers and professionals in different industries a chance to explore the potential talent pool available at The Art Institute.”
Companies that are sponsoring the event include ASR, Malakye, OC Weekly and Skinnie Magazine. All proceeds from the event go to the EDMC Education Foundation to provide scholarships for fashion students.
Rock the Runway will be held at The Art Institute of California – Orange County on March 1 from 2– 6 p.m. Go to www.airocktherunway.com for the most up-to-date details on bands, designers and other event information.
