Romance Novelist, Lauri Robinson, Announces the Release of Her New Book, A Wife for Big John

Once Upon a Time and Happily Ever After

Big Lake, MN, February 03, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Romance Novelist, Lauri Robinson, announces her new book, A Wife for Big John, will be released Friday, February 8th in e-book format. The print version will become available in August.

Robinson’s publisher, The Wild Rose Press, located in Adams Basin, New York, meets the demands of today’s readers by providing both formats of romance novels. “E-books don't take up a lot of shelf space, and they are completely mobile. With the right reader, be it your computer or a handheld device, you can take them anywhere,” states Rhonda Penders, Editor-in-Chief, “and for those who want the experience of holding the print book in their hand, our full length novels are available in trade paperback size.”

A Wife for Big John will be offered for download purchase from several sites, including www.thewildrosepress.com and www.fictionwise.com. “I was a touch skeptical when my first book with The Wild Rose Press, Mail Order Husband, came out in e-book. But when it hit number one on the best seller list at Fictionwise, the world’s leading independent ebook retailer, I became much more appreciative of the electronic reading world. The introduction of the new Kindle (an e-book reader) from Amazon, which continues to be on back order due to supply and demand, increases my excitement at being a part of this revolution as a writer,” said Robinson.

The romance genre often receives criticism, yet over 50% of all mass market paperbacks presently published in North America are romance novels. A 2005 study determined readers of romance were less likely to divorce. These uplifting novels are known to provide entertainment, optimism, and allow the reader to use their imagination. They also provide role models of strong, smart heroines who refuse to be taken advantage of.

Set in northern Minnesota in the 1890’s, A Wife for Big John, is a sweet love story about Dani Jones, who wrangles a job as a logging camp cook, and Big John Thompson, who is flabbergasted to learn the cook he hired for the lumberjacks is a slip of a girl. When Miss Jones decides he needs a wife and sets out to find him one, John’s life is turned upside down.

"This is a great book! The historical information is woven into the story and the characters are people you want to see have a happy ending," says multi-published romance author Paty Jager about A Wife for Big John.

“In the historical romance genre, authors have to do a lot of research. Readers are savvy, and though it’s a fictional story, facts and events have to be true to the time period,” states Robinson. “While researching for this story I discovered how hospitals in Duluth and Bemidji as well as others, where built with money the “Lumberjack Sister” collected by selling “chits” or hospital tickets to lumberjacks. Sister Amata traveled across the northern woods selling chits for over three decades. The men who purchased tickets for $1-$5 were guaranteed care at one of the hospitals if they were injured. However, Sister Amata made it extremely clear the tickets were invalid if liquor or fighting was involved. The nun plays a major role in A Wife for Big John.”

Lauri Robinson, who lives in Minnesota, has two additional romance novels on the market, and one more under contract to be released in 2008.
