Unveiling of Never-Before-Seen Works by Andy Warhol at Its FW17 Opening Gala, LA Fashion Week Launches New Format for Fall/Winter Collections
Los Angeles, CA, February 21, 2017 --(PR.com)-- LA Fashion Week (LAFW) presents its fourth season of collections from March 16 to March 19, 2017 in an experimental new format amidst an evolving landscape of presentation styles. The Fall/Winter 2017 event will be kicked off by the highly-anticipated Opening Gala at the Rooftop Loft at the W Hollywood, featuring live fashion installations and an exclusive unveiling of never-before-seen artworks & images by prolific artist Andy Warhol in an exhibit titled Life Imitates Art.
“After three successful seasons of presenting designers in the traditional runway show format, I’m thrilled to co-create a series of customized experiences which will reflect the vision and uniqueness of each designer brand. Our new event format for FW17 will bring our audience to unexpected venues around LA, immersing them in each designer’s perspective,” said Fashion Director Kim Krempien.
As the official Fashion Week as proclaimed by LA City Mayor Eric Garcetti, LAFW’s opening gala will feature a special contemporary art exhibition presented by Sur Le Mur owner Megan Phillips. Returning for her second season as LAFW’s official Art Curator, Phillips will bring prized selections from her gallery to the W Hollywood, serving as a creative exhibition space for the work of Andy Warhol, graffiti legend Risk, and LA-based fine artist Alexandra Grant. Other returning brand partners include L’Oréal Professional, LuxeLab Salon, Aqua Pacific, and Peroni, who have worked with LA Fashion Week since October of 2015. Livestream partner Revolt TV will connect audiences from around the world, and Passion Roses will be joining FW17 to beautify the Rooftop Loft at the W Hollywood, infusing the space with florals.
“LA Fashion Week is more than just a fashion show. As we integrate more art, music, and design, we aim to expand our presence and those of our partners’ culturally, creating a stronger, more successful global market for LA,” says Executive Producer Arthur Chipman.
LA Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2017 shows will explore new ways to showcase each brand’s aesthetic and point of view. Buzz-worthy Amsterdam-based brand Hardeman will present her FW17 collection on Friday to begin LAFW with a bang. Returning LAFW designers Sav Noir and Vicken Derderian will showcase their latest collections at Hubble Studios on Saturday, March 18th along with LAFW newcomer Gray Scale. Project Runway alumni Candice Cuoco and Vanessa Simmons team up for the debut of their unexpected partnership and collaboratively-designed collection Bad Butterfly to close out the Fall/Winter season.
