Wayside Sci-Tech Prepatory Ravens Celebrate Victory in State Championship and Prepare for National Tournament

Austin, TX, February 28, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Wayside Sci-Tech Prepatory and Wayside Schools are proud to celebrate the victory of their Varsity basketball team in the Texas TAIAO State Basketball Championship.

This is the first state basketball championship in the history of the Wayside Sci-Tech Prepatory Athletic program.

The Wayside Sci-Tech Ravens (22-10) defeated Bastrop Tribe Consolidated (10-5) on February 18, to win the Division TAIAO title. The Wayside Sci-Tech Ravens now advance and will compete in the Under Armour National Tournament in Wichita, KS on March 23, 2017.

“It’s so thrilling to get to compete at the national level,” said Sci-Tech Ravens Coach Derek Banks. “The entire team worked so hard this year and I am so proud of them. Everyone is really looking forward to this and we can’t wait to see the outcome!”

In order to compete at the National level, the Ravens will need to raise at least $3000 to finance their trip to Kansas. In addition to fundraising nights at local restaurants, a GoFundMe page (gofundme.com/ravens-boys-basketball-nationals), the team has also organized school dances, and is now reaching out to their community in search of more sponsorships and donations. The Sci-Tech Ravens are offering local businesses and individuals the unique opportunity to become involved with sending a local team to compete at the national level.
