Midwest Vein Center Partners with the American Venous Forum to Offer Screenings for Potentially Fatal Clots

Midwest Vein Centers has been selected by the American Venous Forum to participate in a nationwide early detection program that will include a free, comprehensive screening to detect venous disease, including venous insufficiency and risks for deep vein thrombosis.

Chicago, IL, February 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The American Venous Forum and the American Vascular Association are setting up screening programs at testing centers to educate the public about venous healthcare problems, risk factors and prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The Midwest Vein Center is one of many specialized vascular centers to participate in this unique screening program.

The program will assess the venous health of all participants and detect venous disease by scanning for venous reflux, examining legs for changes related to venous disease and assessing the risk of developing a blood clot in the veins.

While everyone knows the importance of heart disease, few people appreciate the seriousness of venous diseases. Even fewer are aware of the simple, non-invasive procedures widely available to detect these diseases.

“We are honored to participate in this nationwide program and are committed to educating people about leg vein problems,” said J. Gordon Wright, MD, FACS, RVT, Founder of the Midwest Vein Center. “Our goal, as vascular trained physicians, is to help people make informed decisions regarding their venous health.”

Screenings are being held at three Midwest Vein Center Locations on February 21-23.

The Midwest Vein Center is committed to the non-surgical treatment of vein disease and related disorders. With 3 locations near Chicago, MVC is a trusted name when it comes to vein clinics throughout the Midwest. In fact, it is one of just a few vein practices in which all physicians have undergone an extensive fellowship training in phlebology. As a result, MVC’s success rates are higher than the national and worldwide success rates for vein care. Experience and use of the latest technology make MVC unique in its approach to vein care. Founded in 1988, the American Venous Forum provides academic colloquium to physicians interested in the research, education, and clinical investigation in the field of venous diseases. The Forum is a diverse organization that includes a number of experienced investigators and clinicians, several of whom can also speak or assist in research on a variety of venous-related topics.
