Donovan's 50th Anniversary Tour Comes to the Garde Theatre
New London, CT, March 13, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Donovan, '60s legend, icon, poet and one of the world’s most enduring singer-songwriters, brings his 50th Anniversary North American Tour to the glorious and intimate splendor of the Garde Theater.
Saturday, June 3, 2017 | 8:00 pm
Garde Arts Center
325 State Street
New London, Connecticut
Tickets: https://tickets.gardearts.org/show.asp?shcode=1725
Audiences during the tour will be treated to Donovan’s history of hits including "Sunshine Superman," "Mellow Yellow," "The Hurdy Gurdy Man," "Jenifer Juniper," "Catch the Wind," "There Is A Mountain," as well as his legendary storytelling and other cult classic songs. Sony/Legacy Recordings has released "The Essential Donovan" – a collection of his hits and other innovative album selections. Gibson Guitars has created a special "Donovan Model J45 Guitar," the guitar on which Donovan composed, recorded, and performed all his '60s works. It’s all a long way from that heady '60s decade that birthed him, but 2017 will confirm Donovan as much more than a mere heritage act. He embodies the history of British rock and pop.
Big Noise is helping to promote this event as part of its on-going 1960s Celebration of lectures, anniversary concerts, and films along with socio-musical researcher Connie Watrous.
It seems Donovan was everywhere at some of the most important moments of the late '60s to the end of the decade - The Beatles' trip to India, their worldwide broadcast recording session of "All You Need Is Love," and of course, Bob Dylan's "going electric" in Newport, RI, along with being a focal point of the Dylan masterpiece documentary "Don't Look Back" (Who's Donovan? exclaims Dylan.) Donovan is an institution, and his legacy and influence will ensure that he is part of its future, too.
