Vanessa Simmons Hosts LA Fashion Week’s FW17 Opening Reception at the W Hollywood
Los Angeles, CA, March 15, 2017 --(PR.com)-- LA Fashion Week (LAFW) celebrates its fourth season of collections running March 17-19, kicking off the Fall/Winter event series on March 16th, 2017 with its Opening Reception at the Rooftop Loft at the W Hollywood, hosted by Vanessa Simmons. Her collaboration with designer Candice Cuoco will be unveiled at an exclusive engagement on Sunday, March 19th in a bookend closing to LAFW FW17.
“Los Angeles is oozing with amazing energy right now - we're living in a cultural renaissance for fashion, art, and music. LA Fashion Week has done an amazing job of bringing these elements together, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience my take on contemporary cool. Collaborating with Candice on Bad Butterfly has been incredible. She has completely taken me out of my comfort zone as a designer, and has been teaching me the true fundamentals of fashion and design. This collection has transformed my skills and I'm super proud to be a part of something so amazing,” says Simmons.
The Official Fashion Week of Los Angeles as proclaimed by Mayor Eric Garcetti, LA Fashion Week’s opening reception will feature live performances by the Anaheim City Ballet and Def Jam recording artist Jaylien. Returning for a second season as LAFW’s Art Curator, Megan Phillips of Sur Le Mur will bring prized selections from her gallery, including art by graffiti legend Risk and fine artist Robert Vargas, plus special never-before-seen portrait works of Andy Warhol by Karen Bystedt.
LA Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2017 shows will explore new ways of highlighting each brand’s vision. Supported as part of the Dutch Culture USA Program by the Consulate General of The Netherlands in New York, Sophie Hardeman, designer of Amsterdam-based brand Hardeman, will present her collection on Friday March 17. Saturday night’s event will feature returning LAFW designers Sav Noir and Vicken Derderian at Hubble Studios, along with LAFW newcomer Grayscale. Finally, Project Runway alumni Candice Cuoco and host Vanessa Simmons partner up to close out the FW17 season on Sunday, March 19 with the debut of their collaborative collection Bad Butterfly.
Unique experience is the focus of this season’s partners: Talon Zipper will be creating a 3.1 mile-long Guinness Book World Record-breaking installation, Unzipping LA Fashion Week, while L’Oréal Professional and LuxeGroup return with their editorial beauty preview showcase. Other partners include Aqua Pacific and Passion Roses.
