Great Futures Celebrity Charity Polo: The Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation Was a Proud Sponsor of the 4th Annual Benefit for the Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club
Chauncey Lufkin, local philanthropist, supports several Palm Beach County charitable organizations throughout the year, including The Boys and Girls Club and Quantum House.
Chauncey Lufkin was presented with a painting of a blue horse, by aspiring artist and Boys & Girls Club member, Izzy, aged 10. The inscription reads: “My favorite part of the Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club is the art room. I like to help the staff do projects and paint. When I grow up, I want to be a detective and an artist on the side.”
“Our special thanks to Jaene Miranda, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County, for organizing the day. It is our privilege to support The Club, as its purpose perfectly aligns with our foundation’s mission to improve the quality of life of children and families around the world. Nothing compares to seeing these kids out there on the playing field, enjoying the day and feeling inspired,” said Chauncey Lufkin.
The match played at Grand Champion, featured crowd favorites and honorary event chairs, Ralph Lauren’s “Face of Polo” model and player Ignacio “Nacho” Figueras and America’s Most Wanted/The Hunt TV host and child advocate, John Walsh. Other, polo pros, including 5-goal polo star Brandon Phillips, Argentinian Polo Player Martin Pepa and Nic Roldan, who was the youngest polo player in the world to win the prestigious U.S. Open Polo title at age 15. Nic is considered to be the leading American polo player, with an 8-goal handicap and the US Equestrian Center in Wellington is his home base.
The silent auction was a great success and included experiential packages for golf foursomes, Aspen Snow Polo, and a paella party for 20.
The brunch was held at the Mallot Grille in the International Polo Club Palm Beach. Assisting the staff of the Boys & Girls Club was Carole Thompson, Director of Membership of the International Polo Club Palm Beach, who was on hand to greet the benefactors.
Other guests of the Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation included Jacqueline Wetenhall, Amy Slack, Madeline Szabo, and Grace O’Hara.
The boys and girls enjoyed some time on the playing field, prior to the 3:00PM Piaget Gold Cup Match.
Earlier in the weekend, the Great Futures Polo Day Sponsors were honored at a special Asado, at Santa Rita farm, hosted by Mr. Hirsch and Melissa and Marc Ganzi, both accomplished polo players and devotees of raising awareness of the sport of polo around the world. Attendees included Grand Champion members, players and the event’s sponsors.
