Professional Development in Singapore Mathematics Comes to Massachusetts | Boston-Natick, Ma | April 27-28, 2017

Brewster, NY, March 19, 2017 --(PR.com)-- For the first time in years, a group of highly renowned experts in Singapore Mathematics will be in Massachusetts to share their knowledge with K-8 teachers. Singapore students have consistently fared very well in mathematics as attested to in their top ranking in the 2015 Trends in International Maths and Science Study (TIMSS) and also the 2016 Program for International Student Assessments (PISA) study. Now, teachers in the Greater Massachusetts area can learn the conceptual underpinnings and methods of Singapore Mathematics at a workshop conducted by three great minds on Mathematics Instruction.
New York-based 3R Consulting will run MathTastic, a professional development event on Singapore Mathematics for K-8 teachers at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Natick, MA. Sharing their knowledge on Mathematics instruction are world renowned Singapore Math experts Dr. Yeap Ban Har, the author of numerous textbooks on Singapore Math and oft-called the “Michael Jordan of Math,” Dr, Richard Bisk, Professor Emeritus of Worcester State University and Dr. William Tozzo co-author of soon to be released K-5 Mathematics textbooks.
Workshop days will be full of interactive and informative activities and breakout sessions. The keynote sessions are about two different approaches to teaching. Breakout sessions are organized into specific grade bands. General Panel Discussion and open forum is waiting at the end of every day. Teachers, instructional coaches and administrators will gain a deep understanding of an approach to teaching mathematics that is uncomplicated, yet highly effective, and grounded in the best research from around the globe. Participants will learn how to develop and deliver outstanding lessons, assess student learning, and meet the needs of their diverse classroom populations.
The presenters have a content-based approach to their instruction. Strategies and concepts are demonstrated in the context of lessons to facilitate understanding and empower attendees to be able to put what they learn into practice immediately.
