A Feast of Tradition, Colour and Heritage at India Pavilion in Global Village

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 04, 2017 --(PR.com)-- One of the most popular and distinctive destinations for the 21st season at Global Village is India Pavilion with a new spectacular façade that has been entrancing guests with a design inspired by the Mughal Empire.

A visit to India Pavilion this season takes guests into the 16th century as they experience the stunning façade that recreates Fatehpur Sikri in the Agra region, a city founded by Emperor Akbar, which symbolises victory as 'Fateh' in Farsi means victorious.

The recreation of the classical Mughal architecture in the façade includes the Buland Darwaza known as the 'Gate of Magnificence', the Mehranghar windows inspired by the Mehranghar Fort and the Ellora and the Ajanta Caves, which are a pillar for the pavilion’s interactive performances.

Inside the pavilion there are over more than 240 stalls with products ready to brighten up any wardrobe with a broad spectrum of unique and authentic Indian features. These range from sustainable handcrafted ‘juttis’, and traditional wedding attire, eye-catching jewellery and the finest pashminas to flexible yoga pants.

More sustainable fashion opportunities are offered by the ‘Sharma Jutti Patiala’ shop who runs its own NGO ‘Saraswata Self-help Group’ back in Ludhiana that helps preserve the art of handcrafted footwear and showcases craft that has been handed down over generations and is now being kept alive by over 50 artisans.

The unusual handcrafted footwear ranges from traditional ‘Punjabi Jutti’ to ‘pom-pom’ slippers to sandals made from embroidered leather and perfect for a casual outing or even a wedding occasion.

Traditional and festive outfits are essential when it comes to shopping at India Pavilion where outfits featuring diverse and gorgeous styles, superb fabrics, embroidered designs, and accessories for every special occasion are widely available.

From North Indian region there is stylish ‘Ghagra Choli ‘ or ‘Lehenga Choli’ which was a Royal Indian attire during the Mughal era and is now worn at wedding functions, and special occasions and these can be found at ‘Ethnic World’ shop no. 194 and ‘Divine Creations’ shop no.134 amongst other stalls.

There are many accessories on offer as well with fabulous bold and shiny crystal bangles from Hyderabad on display at the ‘Hyderabad Real Pearls & Gems Jewellery’ stall and discover chic gold jewellery including necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings- from all the way of Bombay at ‘Bombay Fashion Jewellery’ and diamonds on display at the ‘Joy Alukkas’ store.

‘Om Creations’ offers an impressive collection of exquisite handmade bags and ‘iron on’ necklines ranging from AED 30 up to AED 300.

Dharini Mehta, Bombay designer of Om Creations, said, "I came to Dubai 10 years ago on holiday when I had just started my business and I was impressed by Global Village and its unique concept that encouraged me to take a shop at India Pavilion during the following season and have been sharing my designs with the world at Global Village for a decade now."

Also highly popular are Kashmir’s finest hand spun and woven pashmina shawls that can range from AED 100 to AED 4000 for the most intricate and delicately made.

Marie Annick, a Dubai resident and frequent visitor at Global Village said, "I love shopping at Global Village and India Pavilion is a real favourite and I come with my family to shop for the well-known handcrafted pashminas at ‘M.Yusouf Joo & Sons’ store. They always offer me a wide variety of tantalising unique pieces that I just can’t resist."
