Holiday Inn Viera-Melbourne Inks Deal with USSSA to House Athletes and Families
Hollywood, FL, April 07, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The Holiday Inn Melbourne-Viera Conference Center, which is owned by AD1 Global, scored a home run when they recently signed a deal with the U.S. Specialty Sports Association (USSSA).
The amateur sports league is moving from its Kissimmee residence to Viera, FL, in May and will now play their games at the Space Coast Stadium.
“This is a win-win for all parties concerned,” said Rene Pereira, VP of Sales and Marketing for AD1 Global. As part of the deal the Holiday Inn will serve as home base for many of the athletes and their families.
The USSSA has guaranteed the county that its events would generate 75,000 room nights in its first year of operation and 100,000 a year by its third year.
“From a financial perspective, this is certainly going to have a positive impact on the hotel and the local economy,” said AD1 Global President Daniel Berman.
The Holiday Inn is strategically located near I-95, less than 10 minutes from the stadium and has 128 recently renovated guest rooms, a full-service restaurant and more than 6,000 square feet of meeting space.
The deal is also very sweet for the town of Viera, which was host to 23 seasons of spring training action before the Washington Nationals’ departure brought an end to the run in 2016. But for all the glamour of the MLB, some local government officials capped the National’s local impact to only 1000 room nights a season.
It is estimated that the USSSA will generate $500,000 a year in taxes from the sale of 100,000 rooms by year three.
The stadium will undergo $32 million in improvements to prepare it for use by the USSSA. The organization is using $22 million of its own money and the local government is providing the rest.
“Just think of all the business this will bring the community, now and in the long run,” said Pereira. “There’s going to be a lot of families coming here from out of town to see the games, go to the beach, visit the Zoo and of course they will need a place to stay, and that is where we come in.”
