New Release: "On the Edge: Tunes for Tonto," Last CD Album of the Late, Great Saxophonist Baron Von Remmel

Lake Tahoe, CA, April 12, 2017 --(PR.com)-- The late great saxophonist Baron Von Remmel, a.k.a. Remmel Charles Wilson, Jr., is another phenomenal talent, gone way too soon. Remmel was working on his third album, "On the Edge: Tunes for Tonto," and was close to finishing it with Jim Covington, Sky View Ridge Studios; Big Bear Lake, California, when he passed away on June 11, 2015. Remmel’s widow Beverly Wilson, Executive Producer, felt compelled to bring his project to fruition, as Remmel would say, “The show must go on!”

Executive Producer Beverly Wilson approached Brenda Bouschard, Producer, www.MusicStreetUSA.com, Musical Director and Manger of Edwin Cook and Cornell Gunter’s COASTERS featuring Edwin Cook, to help her finish the album. Remmel had traveled and worked with Brenda, Edwin and the group for almost eight years. His last project participation was with them on June 4, 2015, at Son Song Recording Studio, T-Bone Demman, Owner / Engineer in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Brenda teamed up with T-Bone, as engineer and Associate Producer, to complete the album. “Tahoe Moon,” an original of Remmel’s he never recorded, was found on a rehearsal cassette tape, almost in entirety, so Brenda transcribed the tune with the help of a lead sheet, something Remmel referred to often as his chicken scratch, finished arranging and orchestrated it. The two distinct saxophone solos were transcribed note-for-note so that we can forever hear the notes Remmel played as he was planning and rehearsing for his studio session.

The saxophonist chosen by Brenda and T-Bone for “Tahoe Moon” worked with Remmel many years ago in Las Vegas, Nevada. The incomparable Phil Wigfall, known for his alto and tenor skills with Celine Dion, Sheena Easton, and Santa Fe Fat City Horns, and now with this project, was anxious to participate. He said it “hurts my heart” so deeply when he realized it was the Remmel he remembered from years ago. Beverly attended his session and said she closed her eyes at one point, the sound of Phil’s horn so reminiscent of Remmel’s, it brought tears to her eyes. She kept saying, “I knew I picked the right team to help me finish this album.”
