This comedy musical review that affectionately spoofs the shows we all love, will be at The Ridgefield Playhouse at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2008.

Story:
“Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit” is coming to The Ridgefield Playhouse.
Come see the Broadway shows you love like you’ve never seen them before. The sidesplitting savagery known as “Forbidden Broadway” is on the road again with their, “Special Victims Unit!” Now celebrating its record-breaking 25th year in New York, this year’s version includes the puppets of “Avenue Q,” the witches of “Wicked,” Billy Joel’s “Movin' Out,” and new looks at old favorites. “Forbidden Broadway,” a comedy musical review that affectionately spoofs the shows we all love, will be at The Ridgefield Playhouse for Movies and the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 22 as part of the Benziger Family Winery Theater Series and the Bruce Bennett Nissan Comedy Series. Star 99.9 is the media sponsor.
Gerard Alessandrini’s Tony Award-winning comedy review (Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre in 2006) is a roast of recent Great White Way productions. The show was first seen at Palsson’s Supper Club on New York’s Upper West Side some 20 years ago. Mr. Alessandrini, an unemployed actor, wanted a showcase for his talents, so he assembled some of the musical parodies of Broadway shows he had seen since childhood into a nightclub act. Critics and audiences were wowed, and “Forbidden Broadway” has since become New York’s longest running musical comedy review—but no need to hop a train or start the car, the show is right here in Ridgefield.
