Carolina Hurricanes’ Glen Wesley and Wife Named Honorary Chairs for Fundraising Event
Glen and Barbara Wesley to serve as Honorary Chairs for Spare Some for Autism Celebrity/CEO Kids Bowling Challenge.
Raleigh, NC, February 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Spare Some for Autism, a non-profit dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with Autism, has announced that Carolina Hurricane Glen Wesley and his wife, Barbara, have been named honorary chairs for the upcoming Spare Some for Autism Celebrity/CEO Kids Bowling Challenge. The event is scheduled for March 2.
“Creating awareness is the key to encouraging our community to do what it can to aid in the development of a cure for those suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder,” said Beth Jarvis, Executive Director of Spare Some for Autism. “To have someone who is not only a professional NHL player and a former Stanley Cup winner, but also a model citizen that children can look up to is very significant and will give some hope and joy to those who deal with this disorder everyday.”
The Wesleys will work with Spare Some for Autism, the Carolina Hurricanes, and 40 “Celebrity Captains,” to ensure the success of this year’s bowling challenge. In addition, Wesley and a number of his fellow teammates will sign bowling pins to be sold during the Silent Auction to raise additional funds.
