Triple Play Sponsor: The Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation Was a “Triple Play Sponsor” for the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation “All Star Evening.” The Dinner Raised Funds for Comprehensive in-School Programming to Help Children Affected by Domestic Violence.
The Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation has served over 60,000 children with their signature “Margaret’s Place” program, named after Joe’s mother. The program offers in school programming, locally and nationally, to children who live in fear and have witnessed violence in their homes, schools and communities.
Guests of The Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation included an array of prominent professionals from the digital media, marketing, advertising, medical and real estate industries including John P. Roberts, Christie Kidd Roberts, Greg and Amy Harris, Melissa Roth and Anne Borgman. Please view the photo gallery below.
The evening’s program began with remarks by Co-Founders Joe and Ali Torre: “We got so many calls, and we wanted to say: You’re not alone. We are here to help… that’s how we started Margaret’s Place… Whether children are our responsibility or not, we owe them.”
Following the Torres’ remarks, legendary sportscaster, Bob Costas interviewed the All Star panel of James Worthy, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Earvin “Magic” Johnson, along with Mr. Torre.
Mr. Johnson commended the Torres and their foundation: “What you and your wife are doing is incredible. You're ...saving lives… You know where your dollars are going with Joe. You know where his heart is…God has blessed so many people in this room… Your legacy won't be tied to how much money you make. But it will be tied to how many people you help.”
“We welcome the opportunity to support the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation in any way we can. We are a strong believer in the need for this kind of programming for kids who experience violence. The profoundly invasive effects of early childhood trauma on the development of our youth is heartbreaking. We appreciate Joe and Ali Torre’s continued leadership and dedication to this cause, and applaud their programs,” said Chauncey Lufkin, Founder of the Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation.
“Our congratulations on another successful evening to Joe and Ali Torre, their Executive Director, Yolanda Jimenez, their Vice President of Development, Alan Kornblum, and the rest of the Safe at Home Foundation staff. These gatherings are a powerful way to not only raise programming funds, but to increase awareness of this important issue. And thank you to all of our very special guests for taking the time to show their support of our sponsorship,” said Cara Familet, Foundation Director of the Chauncey F. Lufkin III Foundation.
