Editor Now Supports New Transit Plan for Raleigh and Research Triangle Region

Raleigh, NC, February 09, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Long a foe of the Triangle Transit Authority plan for rail transit in the Triangle region of North Carolina , Bernie Reeves, editor and publisher of Raleigh Metro Magazine, has come out in support of the concept announced by the newly established Special Transit Advisory Committee that calls for a Raleigh-outward rail system.

Reeves says he opposed the old TTA plan since its inception in the early 1990s and is credited for causing the concept to be scuttled. “The old plan was politically driven and factually bereft” Reeves says in his "My Usual Charming Self" column ( www.metronc.com).

The new plan, which follows routes he suggested several months back, “radiates outward from Raleigh to destinations that make sense: the RDU International Airport , Research Triangle Park and other termini," Reeves says. "If it works, plans call for spurs to Durham and Chapel Hill. Go with my blessing”

In his February column, Reeves also summarizes the securitized mortgage scandal on Wall Street, the failure of “forced diversity training”, the zany arguments covered by the BBC concerning green initiatives and notes the growing hostilities between Britain and Russia.

Reeves, founder of Spectator, the first city weekly in the South in 1978, and the first business journals in North Carolina – Triangle Business Journal and Triad Business Journal in the mid-80s – founded Raleigh Metro Magazine in 1999.
