Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS® Hosting Senior Expo on May 1 and May 24
Join a fun and free expo with resources focused specifically on the needs and concerns of those aged 50+ and their families. The expos will be May 4 in Arlington Heights and May 24 in Downers Grove. This event is hosted by the Downers Grove-based Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS ® Senior Services Committee.
DuPage County, IL, April 28, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Headed by chairpersons Kathryn Hoffman with Ryan Hill Realty and Gy Sathe with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, the Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS ® Senior Services Committee will be hosting the third annual Senior Expo on May 4 at 1114 N. Arlington Heights Rd. in Arlington Heights and on May 24 at 6655 Main St. in Downers Grove from 9am to 1pm. The fun and free expo aims to address the needs of those aged 50+ and their families, provide resources for independent living, as well as tips on aging safely and successfully in their own homes. Here are the three expert seminar sessions that will be held on both events:
9:30 -10:15 a.m. - Senior Fraud Protection and Prevention to be discussed by Berenice Martinez, Community Outreach Liaison with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office.
10:30 -11:15 a.m. - Decluttering from A to Z to be discussed by Jennifer Prell, a decluttering and aging in place expert from Elderworks, a senior housing resource and Paxem, Inc. a senior moving company.
11:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. - Preparing for the Future: A Panel Discussion featuring:
Pete Furlong, a senior home modifications specialist with Stay Renovations.
Tim Creath, an expert in senior financial planning and president of Creath Financial Service.
Catherine Terpstra, MORe Board of Directors President and local REALTOR®
Jill Daniels, Residential Real Estate Attorney
There will also be vendor fair that will feature a wide variety of tools and resources to aid the various problems faced by those aged 50 and above.
The Senior Expo will shed light on financial as well as health risks many seniors encounter. MORe’s Senior Services Committee co-chair Kathryn Hoffman shares, “With my experience as a senior real estate specialist, I think it is highly important that we educate seniors on how to recognize scams and what they can do along with their family to guard against it. It is also critical to spread awareness on how clutter can be one of the biggest health hazards for seniors and that the simple lifestyle change of decluttering can be ultimately beneficial for them in the long run.”
