Keep Irving Beautiful Participates in YMCA "Healthy Kids Day" Recycled Books Given as Prizes

Irving, TX, May 03, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) has participated with the Irving Family YMCA for several years, and did so again on Saturday, April 29 at their “Healthy Kids Day” event. KIB staff, assisted by a North Lake College student volunteer, had an information table which also included a spinning wheel. Visitors to the table could spin the wheel and answer questions about recycling, energy conservation, and the environment. Prizes were recycled books donated by the Friends of the Irving Public Library. KIB also made it a “green event” by supplying recycling stations with signage in both English and Spanish to encourage attendees to recycle.

Healthy Kids Day is a YMCA national program, which represents their promise to communities to nurture youth development, energize healthy living and inspire social responsibility. YMCAs across the country were holding similar events to Irving’s, which offered a variety of tables such as the Irving Fire Department and Irving Citizens on Patrol, as well as arts and crafts activities for the children and their families.

“The Irving Family YMCA is a great community resource that has so much to offer our residents,” said KIB Board Member Rachel Moon. “We enjoy working with them and supporting events like the Healthy Kids Day. Children and adults love getting the books as prizes, so we would like to thank the Friends of the Library for donating those to us.”
