World’s Best Breweries Battled It Out at the 11th Annual San Diego International Beer Competition: Moonlight Meadery Wins Two Medals

Moonlight Meadery wins Gold and Silver medals at International Beer Competition.

Londonderry, NH, May 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Moonlight Meadery was awarded a gold and a silver medal at the 2017 San Diego County Fair’s 11th Annual San Diego International Beer Competition. The San Diego County Fair, presented by Albertsons| Vons, hosts one of the largest beer festivals in the country, with 1,564 entries from 20 countries and 23 states in the U.S. Judged by industry professionals, the competition awards the best of the best. Judging was held April 21-22 and gold, silver and bronze awards were bestowed upon 168 brews from around the world at the San Diego International Beer Competition, held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California. Best of Show will be announced at the San Diego County Fair’s 11th Annual San Diego International Beer Festival on Saturday, June 17, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. Moonlight Meadery was awarded a Silver medal in the Traditional mead category for Utopian #9™, a traditional mead that has been aged for 5 years in hand-selected, Samuel Adams Utopias® casks from the award-winning Boston Beer Company. This truly unique mead offers a flavor not just unlike any other mead, but unlike any other beverage in the world. Utopian is a flavor sensation to behold, featuring a sweet and complex flavor that is reminiscent of a fine cognac or aged sherry.

In addition, Moonlight Meadery was awarded a Gold medal in Spiced and Specialty mead category for Smolder™ that has forward sweet raspberry notes preparing for the smoldering chipotle spice that makes a grand entrance without overplaying it. Spice lingers on the palette to a raspy finish. Perfect balance of sweet fire.

Moonlight Meadery located in Londonderry, NH and specializes in crafting beverages from honey, including mead, cider and braggots under the d/b/a Hidden Moon Brewing.

“I am really happy for the recognition that our Utopian and Smolder continues to receive, it takes an entire team to consistently make such great meads year after year,” says Michael Fairbrother, Founder and Head Mead Maker at Moonlight Meadery.
