AOK Records Artist, The Knight Family, Announces New Album
Simple, traditional album on tap for beloved Appalachian ministry.
Nashville, TN, May 07, 2017 --(PR.com)-- AOK Records artists, The Knight Family of Fall Branch, TN has announced that the group's latest album will be available on May 20, 2017. Having been on the road for 31 years, this is the first themed album for the family. The project, "Keep On The Sunny Side: A Tribute to our Mountain Roots" features songs from Appalachia that have influenced the members of the band for many years. Adam Knight states, "These songs are what made us fall in love with Appalachian and acoustic music. Scores of our Friday and Saturday nights have been spent in a country church, a grange hall, ruritan, or school house both hearing and playing these tunes." From one of the deepest hollows (hollers) in coal mine country, Hurley, VA, Angel Knight's family (The Jackson's) grew up singing Bluegrass and acoustic Gospel as well.
The instrumentation on the album also marks quite a departure for the group. Knight continues, "The 30th Anniversary album that we did last year was done in 5 studios in 3 cities and had 16 musicians on it. That is an overwhelming undertaking." The new album features only acoustic lead and rhythm guitars and an upright bass.
When asked about the inspiration behind the new project, group matriarch Linda Knight replied, "Folks are craving simplicity and familiarity. We live in such a busy and overproduced world, that has created a hunger for simple, honest music."
This release also marks the 50th Anniversary of "Mama" Linda Knight's Gospel music career. Linda, who began singing with her parents at the age of 14 has been the mainstay of the family's sound and has written many of the group's highest charting songs.
The track list for "Keep On The Sunny Side: A Tribute to Our Mountain Roots" is:
