Definition 6 Scores Coveted Sports Emmy for Work with CBS Sports
New York, NY, May 11, 2017 --(PR.com)-- Definition 6 scored a statuette at the 38th Sports Emmy Awards. Senior Editor Anthony J. Cortese was awarded a coveted Sports Emmy for “Outstanding Short Form Editing” for “Thursday Night Football Presents…” which aired on CBS and NFL Network. This marks the seventh Emmy win for Cortese, bringing the total to twenty-three Emmy Awards won by the Definition 6 team.
The pieces featured notable performances by sports legends Joe Namath, Jim Kelly, Dick Enberg, Sam Wyche, and Eddie George as well as voiceovers by Dennis Quaid and Sam Elliott, which Cortese directed remotely. The opens, or “teases” as they are known in the sports world, aired just before kickoff every Thursday night for eight weeks. While crews were shooting around the country from Saturday through Wednesday, Cortese was editing concurrently in New York, occasionally even flying out to help direct.
Cortese has worked on four Super Bowls, ten Final Fours, and a host of other major sporting events. He has collaborated with and directed Ron Howard, John Goodman, Jesse Eisenberg, Jon Bon Jovi, and J.K. Simmons.
The Sports Emmy Awards Ceremony was held in New York on Tuesday, May 9th, 2017. There the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized excellence in American sports television programming, including sports-related series, live coverage, and host talent.
