Changing Your Entire Life Begins with a Single Leap
Chicago, IL, February 11, 2008 --(PR.com)-- In Leap Day, author Larry W. Payton, Jr. presents a fictionalized autobiography of the last eight years of his life—complete with time-traveling adventures and a quest for true love.
Summary: Lyle Proctor lost everything that mattered to him, but when he decides to end his misery and take his own life, he embarks on a quest and finds more than he ever dreamed possible. With Leap Day, Illinois author Larry W. Payton, Jr. has penned an inspiring and hopeful novel of the quest for finding true love and one’s place in the world.
From Leap Day:
“Lyle was lying on his back with his eyes closed and his hands held together in prayer at his chest. Tears welled up in his eyes and ran down the sides of his face. He wiped them away and turned over on his stomach with his face on the right side of the pillow and his forehead touching the wall. At 11:45, Lyle’s breathing slowed, and he fell asleep. Although he did not expect to wake up again, he did. When he did awaken, not only was it no longer February 28, but it was no longer 2008…”
Lyle Proctor is a 33-year-old man who lives in a small Illinois town with his parents. At one point in his life, he had been married, with a home and a career, but lost it all. Already suffering from manic depressive disorder, convinced that he would never find true love, he decides to end his life. Taking a lethal combination of sleeping pills and liquor, he goes to bed, not expecting to wake up ever again.
To his surprise, Lyle does wake up—but it is no longer Leap Day 2008. Somehow, through some divine intervention, he discovers that it is Leap Day 2004. He takes advantage of the opportunity to make things right, writing a letter for his past self to discover in which he describes all that has occurred in the intervening years. With luck, he hopes that he will not make the same mistakes he made before. He goes to sleep that night and wakes up to Leap Day 2008—and quickly discovers his life is even worse than before.
Lyle is given one last chance, and when he goes to sleep that night, hoping to leap back further in time, he does—to Leap Day 2000. But this time he does not return to the future, and must relive his life over again from that point forward. Will Lyle get it right this time? Will he find the true love he always sought? Or will it all turn out as before?
So many of us wish we can hit the rewind button and live a portion of our lives over again. In this stunning and mesmerizing debut novel, author Larry W. Payton, Jr. shows us a world in which this is possible.
