Engagement Falls in Northeastern United States; Quantum Workplace Discovers Source of Regional Engagement Drop
Omaha, NE, June 06, 2017 --(PR.com)-- In 2016, the Northeast experienced a major drop in employee engagement, and the region now ranks last in the United States for employee engagement.
According to recent research by Quantum Workplace, a leading workplace survey and employee feedback technology company, the Northeast’s employee engagement has fallen behind the rest of the US. Only 63% of Northeasterners are engaged, more than 5 percentage points behind the highest engaged region, the South. In 2016, the Northeast region saw a 1.09% drop in employee engagement. This is the third year in a row that the Northeast has seen a drop in engagement.
The research conducted examines over half a million employees at more than 8,700 best places to work across the US. Participants are asked questions about key factors affecting employee engagement, including perceptions of teamwork, trust in leaders, job satisfaction, and benefits. The survey uses a six-point Likert scale, and employees are classified as engaged when their average score is between five and six. All surveys were collected from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.
The Northeast region was the only region to see a reduction in favorability in the following survey items:
- My job allows me to utilize my strengths.
- The senior leaders of this organization demonstrate integrity.
- I believe this organization will be successful in the future.
Startlingly, then, the item “My job allows me to utilize my strengths” has been found to be the number one driver of employee engagement.
“In a region responsible for so much of our current economic stability and future economic growth, it is essential that organizations in the Northeast pay attention to their employees’ engagement,” said Quantum Workplace CEO Greg Harris.
