‘Apes Embark on Rock and Roll Adventure
The Fire Apes, an Indie Rock/Powerpop band from Charleston, SC, draw the focus on The Rock and Roll Report for Tuesday, February 12, 2008.
Charleston, SC, February 14, 2008 --(PR.com)-- The Fire Apes’ “Hey Kate!”, the first release from their latest self-titled EP and a smooth blend of ska and modern rock, gets its first run on the show, which is broadcast from 10:00 - 11:00 PM EST on CKUT 90.3 FM – Montreal, Canada.
The Rock and Roll Report began as a blog, but has since evolved into a place where a loosely drawn group of contributors write about bands and artists, record labels and radio stations, blogs and magazines that they are passionate about and in their mind epitomize what rock and roll is all about.
The Rock and Roll Report continues its mission of searching out those artists that create the kind of rock and roll that, deep down, all want to hear. They don’t discriminate based on modes of distribution as it has become clear that for the most part, major record labels seem less interested in real rock and roll and more interested in feeding the lowest common musical denominator. Mark Boudreau, host of The Rock and Roll Report, takes his search elsewhere, to the hundreds of indie and DIY labels that were created by those still passionate about rock and roll.
Said Boudreau, “I play the cool stuff guaranteed to get your rock and roll heart beating… “
The Rock and Roll Report can be heard monthly on the Drastic Plastic Program on CKUT 90.3 FM – Montreal, Canada. CKUT's music programming emphasizes the uncommon, the new, and the daring. They have a variety of specialized music programs as well as open format programs that span many musical genres. DJs make their own musical selections, without the aid of a playlist, choosing from recordings sent to CKUT by artists and record companies around the world as well as from their own private collections.
The Fire Apes, consisting of John Seymour on lead guitar and vocals, Julian Volpe on bass and vocals, Hugh Knight on keyboards, and Aron Robinson on drums, are currently touring the Southeast US in support of their chart climbing single "Hey Kate!"
