LogicJunction and IndoorAtlas Partner to Change the Landscape of Location-Based Services in Healthcare Using Geomagnetic Indoor Positioning
Cleveland, OH, June 20, 2017 --(PR.com)-- LogicJunction, a pioneer in location-based services for healthcare, and IndoorAtlas, a global innovator of geomagnetic indoor positioning technology, team up to create enhanced patient experience associated with navigation inside of large, complex hospital buildings using a state of the art mobile app powered by the IndoorAtlas’ technology.
The IndoorAtlas powered mobile app is the newest addition to LogicJunction’s suite of well-established wayfinding solutions that help patients and visitors pre-plan hospital visits using the web, navigate around the facility with the help of kiosks, and receive customized electronic directions from volunteers or kiosks upon arrival. The wayfinding app will help hospitals provide GPS-like indoor navigation to their mobile community who prefer smartphones to other forms of information retrieval.
LogicJunction’s Cleveland-based team tested a wide variety of indoor positioning technologies before making the strategic decision to invest engineering resources in IndoorAtlas’ technology. “We wanted to do something different. We wanted to create a best-of-breed indoor wayfinding mobile app that’s affordable for any hospital anywhere, one that doesn’t require expensive infrastructure, a long implementation and lots of ongoing maintenance,” says Mike Drozda, COO. The precise positioning, scalability and low infrastructure offered by IndoorAtlas’s geomagnetic technology filled those gaps.
IndoorAtlas provides a unique Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution that runs a disruptive geomagnetic positioning in its hybrid technology core to accurately pinpoint a location inside a building. “Our vision is to make indoor world's discoverable. We will see more new services and apps emerging in the healthcare sector that utilize the indoor location context. The location data will help hospitals to gain new knowledge for optimizing daily processes and functions, and flow of assets, for example. We are thrilled to see how our technology is used to realize a vision of a future hospital and we are privileged to witness the adoption of IndoorAtlas platform by one of the most important and prestigious infrastructures of the modern society,” says Erik Piehl, CEO.
The announcement of the partnership comes after the highly successful launch of the app at Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s 1.5 million square-foot campus in May of this year. The first release offers powerful features such as GPS-like turn-by-turn directions with indoor positioning accuracy of three to five feet. The app has an intuitive interface with and other user-friendly features, including:
- Blue dot guidance that shows your exact location on an animated path and plots the best route to your destination on an interactive map.
- Landmark references on each floor.
- Automatic re-routing if you go off track, or if an area or elevator is closed for maintenance.
- Location-based notifications with information about your immediate surroundings, such as cafeteria hours.
