Shoes That Fit - a national nonprofit based in Claremont, California - has been named Nonprofit of the Year by Assemblymember Chris Holden. As Shoes That Fit celebrates its 25th anniversary of providing new athletic shoes to kids in need, they do so with a renewed focus towards achieving their vision that one day, every child in America who needs hew shoes gets new shoes.

Awards, state leaders will honor “Nonprofits of the Year” at State Capitol event June 28.
On Wednesday, June 28, Shoes That Fit will be honored as a Nonprofit of the Year at a celebration of California Nonprofits Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento. The event will be attended by several state legislators, including Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, Assemblymember Monique Limon and California Attorney General Zavier Beceraa.
Shoes That Fit has been selected by Assemblymember Chris Holden as an exceptional nonprofit organization in his district community. Shoes That Fit will join nearly one hundred other nonprofit leaders from across the state being honored at the annual California Nonprofits Day event, formally recognized by Assembly Concurrent Resolution 54, authored by the chair of the new Assembly Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector Assemblywoman Monique Limon (D-Santa Barbara).
Shoes That Fit tackles one of the most visible signs of poverty in American by giving children in need new athletic shoes to attend school with dignity and joy, prepared to learn, play and thrive.
“More than 1 in 5 children in the United States live in poverty today, and California's poverty rate is even higher. Together, we can alleviate the shame and embarrassment caused by circumstances out of a child's control, all with a simple pair of shoes,” says Shoes That Fit Executive Director, Amy Fass. “It's truly an honor to be recognized alongside other noteworthy organizations, and we look forward to the opportunity to reach our vision that one day, every child in American who needs new shoes, gets new shoes."
